Morrowind isn't MMORPG, it's single player RPG (no monthly fee) and is fairly cheap ($20 and comes with 2 expansion packs). Plenty of quests and places to visit, you can just wander around for weeks (actual weeks). The graphics are a bit dated, but they are still decent and realisic. Only thing that annoys me is the cliff racers...damn cliff racers. And the rats (except for the pack rats which were nice pets). But there are so many mods and addons, you can pretty much customize the game to your liking, even adding tons more places to explore, and creatures to battle. Game comes with an easy to use editor (3d, drag-and-drop easy) so you can mod the game yourself, if you like doing that sort of thing. IGN's Review here.

Nothing says entertainment value like pillaging the Indians!

Hey. I gave them productive, job-training experiences in many of my modern, well equiped gold mines, after 'rescuing' them from the hum-drum existance of boring village life. They were thankful for the free room and board, and for the religious indoctorination. It's not my fault I usually forgot about the mines and they were worked to death.

Anarchy is a MMORPG from Norway that's been out for just over 3 years now. The Expansions (Notum Wars, Shadow Lands, Alien Invasion, and the upcoming Lost Eden) all require a paid account, but the initial release is interesting to explore and FREE. Shadow Lands is visually the most stunning.

Check out AnarchyArcanum for some interesting places to visit in the free release.

Check out Gridstream Radio for live "broadcasts" from in-game

hmm.. I'll try it tomorrow night

Edit: The review says the plot is well developed, but the game is still all about space combat. In most missions (there are 30), the plot simply tells you what to shoot.

Awesome plot. One of the best games of all time. Graphics were out of this world at the time and probably still look alright. I wish someone would make Freespace 3 with the same people who designed the plot for 1 & 2.

Agreed!
