Recommend me a game

DesiPower

Requirements

1. Action (war type)
2. Must have vehicles, I can fight on foot, drive a tank or something or fly some kind of fighter aircraft
3. Multiplayer
4. Must be popular (lots n lots of players online)
5. PC
6. Futuristic Sifi type preferred

Doesn't have to be a latest brand new game. Its gift to myself for Christmas. Not too worried about hardware requirements, I am planning to upgrade.

Preference? FPS? RTS?

Battlefield 2142, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Frontlines: Fuel of War, Red Faction Guerrilla? Doubt they're popular.

Yup, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is fantastic (just bought it since it dropped in price) and it fulfills all of those, except for the sci-fi part.

Thanks for the response I will probably go with BF:BC2
I haven't bought any games in 3 years... before that too didn't get change to play much. I Last ones I played were Last game Call of Duty, Gears of War, Command and Conquer and some others, the last game I really liked was Tribes 2

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm over 30 and have a job or maybe I just suck, but I'm constantly getting killed in BF:BC2. Strangely enough, I actually prefer Battlefield Heroes (F2P online game) and do pretty well without spending any money for premium weapons. No vehicles, but I really like Team Fortress 2 as well.

Battlezone!

Even if you're joking, you're right.

I really wish they'd give this a facelift. I loved that game! Just broke it back out recently. 🙂

How about the Unreal Tourneys? They're all real cheap, and the lastest one is fun, cheap, and looks good.

I liked Heroes. Played that until BC2 was released. I keep meaning to check in, but I have no time... : /

Arma2. I believe may fit the bill, but its more hardcore (if you like simulators, etc, you will like it, but if you don't, you may want something a bit more arcady like BF games.) Not sure how popular it is online though, I haven't tried multiplayer in 10+ months.

Nice. I didn't think people remembered those games.

I remember the game sucked, and that I had fun killing Commander Keen in the Doom 2 bonus level.

Duke Nukem was a better futuristic action game for that era in my opinion (the original, not Duke3D)

Speaking of old games that fit the bill for this; Syndicate accomplishes most of the criteria. I only wish there were a modern day game in the style of Syndicate, as the game was awesome.

I loved Commander keen but then again I was 12ish. I agree about Duke Nukem. It did come out later after CK tho so maybe they learned a few things. I remember Syndicate well, but I never got into it. I did put in a crazy amount of time in Terminator 2029 (the only good Terminator game IMO). It was hilarious because due to a sound bug I would loose audio on T2029 like 3 min in so I'd be playing in silence most of the time. My poor Sound Blaster 1.5 was weeping with boredom. 🙂

UT3 fits the bill perfectly... except for being popular. It isn't, and some days you can only find one or two full servers for a given game type. I liked the game itself and have played it for 121 hours according to Steam, but it's not the game that UT was largely just due to lack of popularity.

Seriously. They need to make a Battlezone 3, even if all they did was update the graphics/AI. In fact, I'm now going to go watch Youtube gameplay vids to help relieve my nostalgia!

Oh I'm not joking. One of the best games made. The mix of FPS and RTS was way ahead of its time. In fact it still accomplishes more than what current games do.

Resource management, actual need to think big picture on a map and build defenses and buildings. Then going in and leading your units or hopping out and fighting it out on foot.

I was simply awesome.

I really wish a part 3 would get made.

Oh and playing with friends and playing co-op was awesome. One person leading the assault and the other building defenses. Logged into a terminal inside your buildings. Worried about getting sniped or something while building stuff. Great great stuff.

I used to reaaaaly love Tactical Ops. They redid it using the(AOT) UT4 engine??(maybe 3) and it was shaping up quite nice, but then Team Fortress 2 came out and the servers just didn't have the people they used to. Never could get into TF2
