Recommend me a couple of must-have Wii games?

Fiancée just bought me a Wii for an engagement present. The last time I played regularly was a couple of years ago, so I'm out of the loop in terms of good games out there. I will for sure be getting Super Smash Brawl (as well as a bunch of virtual console games like Mario Kart 64, Mario Party, etc). Additionally, I own a gaming PC that I do all of my hardcore gaming on, so graphic-intensive, online fps (things like Call of Duty) are not Wii material, as far as I am concerned.

What do you recommend? Super Mario Wii? Donkey Kong? Resident Evil 4? Anything released over the last few years is game--quality is what I'm going for here. For reference, installed on my pc right now are: Counterstrike, Civ5, Supreme Commander 2, Bioshock 2, Serious Sam, GTA.

Gracias in advance 🙂

Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2
Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
Mario Kart Wii
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Resident Evil 4
Okami
Pikmin
New Super Mario Bros

All great games in their own right

Anyone played Mario Party 8 alot? It was my feeling that after the N64 versions (Mario Parties 1, 2 and I think 3 as well) elements of luck were increasingly integrated into the game, making random chance as likely to wipe you out as it was to make you dominate, whereas in the early Mario Parties skill in the mini games played a bigger part in determining the winner. I enjoyed Mario Party 2 a lot, but in my experience everything after sucked. Felt like they were made for 6-year olds. Is 8 like this, or do they return to the earlier gameplay?

What do people think of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Not looking for a deep experience here, of course, but historically the Mortal Kombat games have served me well for just having a couple of friends over and hacking at each other.

I found Mario Party 8 to be pretty boring and mostly based on luck. Played it maybe 3 or 4 time and traded it. I never really played the n64 versions so I'm not sure how it compares.

In addition to the other recommendations I'd add No More Heroes and NBA Jam.

That's what I felt like too. Earlier ones were much more dependent upon skill in the mini games, using your special items strategically, that kind of thing. Guess I'll be avoiding MP8
