so a buddy of mine spilled beer on my razr last night at the bar and now i need a new phone...i wasn't very happy with the razr anyway, so i was already thinking of upgrading...now it just has some added urgency since i'm on a crappy nokia for the time being 🙁

what i need in a phone is:

a large and easy to read display

at least 500 contact capacity, preferably something where i can back up the really important ones to the sim, a vip list or grouping function would be a plus

a good and uncumbersome calculator...not scientific or anything, just basic functions

a decent camera and video...about 1mp for stills would be preferable

mp3 playback isn't really neccessary, although a minisd slot(i think that's what they're using these days, i'm not very up on cell phone tech 😱 ) would be a plus

lastly, i don't want something that's gigantic, i would prefer a flip phone, so the screen stays in beter shape, but i'm not opposed to a brick phone

damn, that's a long list now that i type it out 😛

anyone wanna help me out?
 
funny you say your phone was killed by someone spilling beer on it. My friend did the same to my last sony-erricson....didn't kill it entirely, but the charging only works half the time now 🙁

well...it seems to be working some of the time...it keeps turning itself off randomly, and also randomly doesn't recognize the sim and i have to reboot it a couple times to get it to...if i can even get it to turn back on without pulling the battery for a minute
 
Razr V3m maybe? Even though you said you don't like razrs...So I'm not really sure the point of this post. It plays music though...

I'm using the Samsung A900, but its CDMA and doesn't have a SIM card. Kick ass phone though.
 
Unless you are looking for a smartphone for the added email and web features, this little puppy is, in my opinion, the best phone on the market. Unfortunately, you are going from a Razr, which mean you probably don't have Sprint.

If you have Verizon, the A950 is the same as the 920, except for the scroll wheel on the front, which sucks.

Somebody else posted it, but Phonescoop is the best place to get professional and user reviews for just about any phone out on the market.
