Okay.. I am not too sure what I should be looking for. Need a few recommendations.

- Car should be used / pre-pwned with under 80k miles preferably.
- Should be a sporty car (2 door, stick shift)
- Less than $8000
- Must be a 2000 or a more recent model
- Needs to be fuel efficient (20+ miles a gallon in the city).
- Not looking for Hondas (Civic, Accord, Del Sol or Prelude)

Any recommendations?

The options so far
- Firebird/TransAm
- Toyota Celica

I can't speak to 2-door stick shifts <$8K; probably Miata or something?

If you can get over the 2-door part, pick up a late 90's/early 00's Subaru Legacy GT. Decent mileage, with some simple shocks+springs+sways you have a car that handles like a dream. Plus AWD is sweet of course. There were 2-door Impreza's at some point...

Hmm.. I would prefer something which was manufactured later than 2000. I dont want to spend too much on maintanance.

Just my preference... besides a sporty car without manual transmission is no fun to drive. Again this is just my opinion.

More fun to drive? Better gas mileage? Cheaper?

Take your pick.

What's the correlation between maitnence costs and year? If anything an older car would have parts that are easier to acquire and be cheaper also. Maybe try for a used Accord?

Genrally, older car mean older parts and a higher probabilty that something may not work well. That is the only reason I put this condition.

If there is a older car which is well maintained, then yes, I am open to that option too.

Cheap, VERY fast, and easy to work on.

Firebird/ Trans-Am is definitely one of ths options that I am looking at very keenly. I love that car. :)

I think a 1998-2000 Honda Accord Coupe would suit you perfectly. Honda's are clearly reliable, and the Accord can be found in Coupes with manual transmissions.

I had a civic about a year back. I loved that car. But this time around, I would prefer something other than Civic, Accord, Del Sol or Prelude.

Hmm..Would a 6 foot tall and hefty person like me fit into this car? Any idea?

if it had no sunroof the height would be fine, but anything over 170-180 lbs i think would be too tight.

I am 200 pounds.. so looks like it will be a tight fit for me.

The only problem with a Celica is that it's a Celica.

VW GTI. The 1.8T is very efficient and for $300-$500 can quite spunky with an ECU upgrade.

You could also go for the VR6, but it's pretty much capped out of the box. Also not as "sporty" feeling since the V6 adds a lot of weight up front.

I recommend the Subaru Impreza rs2.5 98-01. They are very fun to drive and have an awsome forum www.rs25.com they can help you with any problem you might have with your car, they also have a for sell place in their forums. The car is way better looking than the wrx. Another thing with Subarus is their engines bolt up with almost any other Subaru, the price for a new WRX motor install is like 5k and an STi motor is like 8k. PM me if you have any questions about the car.
