I find the smoke flavor to be equal to, or better, than with my old Brinkmann. I am sure that some of this is because it is so much more convenient to load more wood in mid-smoke so I probably keep it stoked better than I did with my charcoal smoker.

As a grill, that Char-Griller is awesome. Those grates are just plain easy to cook on. I own one myself. For a smoker though, far too much escapes off the sides.

The perfect smoker, although a tad small, is the big green egg. You get it to the right temperature, & you can leave that sucker alone for hours, without much of a drop in heat. In a 8-10 hour cooking session, you might have to add some wood or lump twice. Reviews are everywhere.

Weber has the egg beat in all honesty.

I can start a pork butt in the evening, wake up the next morning and it still 225.

Plus go to a BBQ competition, you'll see the bullet everywhere.

-edit-
I've smoked maybe two dozen times with the egg. Didn't particuarly like it, although it is very popular and VERY sturdy.

With a name like HomeBrewerDude, you need to convert an old keg into a smoker.

Hey! You're in the know too! :) It's seriously one of my favorite possesions.

I ended up getting the Chargriller Pro Delux with side fire box. I paid a total of $138.00 + tax for both. :)

Its all put together now, and I plan to smoke next weekend with my Dad.

:)

They stock those at Lowes. The chargriller is $119 and the side box $59, I think. Of course you'd go to ebay to get a 10% coupon for $2 first. Right?
