Recommend me a 15' - 20' ladder

Primary purposes -
- Climb into Attic
- Cut tree branches, ones that are getting close to wall and roof, ladder will rest against wall.
- Christmas lights
- Clean/Fix gutters

Wont be using more than 5 - 6 times a year. Need the folding/collapsible type for storage reasons. Currently looking at this, cost is $275.

Is there something cheaper and yet durable/good build quality? say around $150? I don't think I will need more than 15' but a 20' would be a nice to have...

Build a ladder from fallen tree branches.

Your trolling is getting worse and worse....you might want to get that checked out.

OP, have you looked at a Little Giant? Not that you need one like them, but they're pretty versatile and easy to use.

I have that same ladder and like it too. The only complaint I would have is that it is a little heavy (I think it weighs about 50 lbs).

Yeah, it's a bit heavy. For light home use it's good though. It's definitely not something I'd want to haul around if I was using it daily.

I also came in to recommend that Werner 22' ladder.

I've had the 13' version for awhile now but recently purchased the 22'.

I originally wanted to build my own ladder because I don't have a truck so can't carry a real ladder out of the store.

Started building it, then realized how ridiculously heavy it would be, and gave up. Mind you I think using 2x6's was maybe overkill. Probably could have gotten away with 2x4's or even 2x2's.

I ended up buying this one:

Only down side it's a bit of a pain to setup compared to a standard ladder. If you have a way to bring a standard ladder home I'd recommend this over any other type, it's simple, quick, and easy to use. One downside with mine is it's hard to control it's size, so when going on the roof it's too long and the angle I have to put it at puts more pressure on the gutters.

Oh and stay clear of telescopic ladders, they are a huge PAIN! After a while they get very hard to collapse or expand to the point where they can even be dangerous as you don't know if it clicked or not and it can start going down as you go on it. My parents had one and while it did the job for several years it just got harder and harder to use after that. Dirt gets into the cylinders, etc.

$275 for that?!
no wonder people are stealing extension ladders off job sites. (and those on jobs sites must be rated to at least 300lbs by OSHA.)

why aluminum? how about a fiberglass extension ladder?

Sure, I am open, link please

I want to shit myself going up my 5' step ladder... <--- pussy.

Just tie me off and lower me down.

I love when I go to a customers house and they recommend me their 100 year old wooden ladder aka "widow maker"

I've got one of those little giant style ladders, the type that does a frame and vertical, and it's nice for inside jobs but it's so heavy. Also for a roof you have to make it extend to the size you want, then stand it up against the roof. It's awkward. Outside for roof work I use a standard aluminum straight ladder, the type with a rope to increase the height. It's so much less hassle to put up.

Those fold up ladders are great, at folding up. Get a proper fiberglass extension ladder. It will last for many years, it won't sag or break, and it will keep you from plummeting twenty feet to the ground.

Of course, 52 pounds is too heavy, apparently, for some people to carry. :\

Use the proper tool for the job; not a gimmick. Personally, I don't trust those folding or telescoping ladders.
