I finally have to get on my own policy, can anyone recommend good car insurance companies to get quotes from?

I currently have AAA which is great, but just looking for others I can also get quotes from.

I'm 22 with an 04 Accord, no tickets or accidents.

Thanks.

I'm rockin' State Farm. For me, they had the best rates for the coverage. I've been with them since I was 20 - am almost 24 now.

Geico jacked up my rates for not returning some form I never received. They told me they weren't allowed by law to let me sign the form online (something about denying a certain coverage). Sure enough I drop them and the next two companies I've used, esurance and Progressive, let me sign said form online. So Geico is full of shit.

So far Geico and 21st century quoted me ~1k/yr for 300k/500k with 50k property damage, uninsured motorist coverage, rental, etc. The other companies were all around 1500. Then Wawanesa came in at 880. Has anyone used Wawanesa?

Haven't heard back from AAA yet.

i hate Liberty Mutual. that's all. MA has set rates (although it may change soon and progressive is coming in May) so shopping around is not really an option:(

Here in Washington Geico was really expensive, and State Farm has been pretty good.

Pemco if you can get it.

I just switched from progressive to esurance as they were by far the cheapest quote I got.

I think a lot of just depends on where you live. I know Geico advertises how cheap they are, but for me they were 4 times the price of progressive or esurance, so, car insurance seems like a big YMMV by nature.

Whatever you do, don't get State Farm. If they can, they'll fuck you over.

They hit me with some other persons $10,000+ in medical bills for an "accident" which was at low speed, no real impact (it just involved the side of someones car scraping along my bumper). Only damage to my car was a dent in the bumper. Scraped the side of this ladys car at low speed. Technically it was "my" fault since I was backing out of a parking space. Ignore the fact that I was stopped when she scraped my car - that she was going too fast for a parking lot - AND that she was on the left side when there is plenty of room for two cars in between parking spaces (you can only park the right hand side because of how they are angled) - and I was only 1/3rd out of the space. Still my fault. Fine. But she claimed over $10K in medical bills. Funny she was out chatting with her friend who was there and having a fine old time, and even stated when she got out "Oh that was my fault wasn't it?". Wrote letter after letter after letter, fought everything as much as I could, but they still let her get away with insurance fraud. Funny thing was she had State Farm too. The most I was able to do was report her to the DMV and make her have to take a driving test (she was old) - but I don't know the outcome of that.

Of course that made my rates go up. However, later when my policy was coming up for renewal the rates went up AGAIN - no claims, no tickets, nothing. I asked them why my rates were going up - they said they were rasing their rates in CA. The next day on the radio I heard an advertisement by State Farm that they were lowering their rates in CA. Bullshit. I'm with Progressive now and will never use State Farm for anything ever again.

FUCK STATE FARM!

There used to be threads on here all the time saying how good American Express car insurance was. Anyone still with them?

I'm with Geico. They've been pretty good....not great, but alas, all big companies pay out a lot of money and I understand they have to protect themselves by cutting corners where possible.
