Can anyone recommend a book that discusses the intricacies of Internet e-mail server-to-server connectivity?

I'm aware of the books by Doug Comer and Andrew Tannenbaum. I've read Comer's book; it covers theory and basic implementation practices. I need something with more detail and a specific focus.

I'm looking for books that discuss best practices specifically in reference to mail relay techniques that reduce and/or eliminate spam.

Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I don't have a book, but rather a suggestion for you to consider:

Ask IT prof in your nearby community college.
Ask IT manager in nearby companies.
Ask customer service desk of your ISP.

The best option in my opinion is searching for issues in Google. Most of the information is available on the web and also it is the best source. You will learn a lot finding on web.

You might try contacting the owner of http://ownwebnow.com, Vlad Mazek. He has one of the largest email hosting businesses in the world and writes his own stuff. He's an Exchange MVP and might be nice enough to point you in the right direction.
