Thinking about getting one of these things. What's the best one?

By best, I mean:
I don't care if it has the most features but sucks
I don't care if it looks sexy and has matching socks
Cost vs. What you get (an incredible product for $500 isn't the best, it's more like lil' jon's crunk cup)

I need something that will work, and that I won't have to fight with. I've heard some of the broadcasting hardware out there is troublesome and unreliable. I drive a lot, so I figure one of these gizmos might be a worthwhile investment.

I have one that somebody borrowed from me, I'll try to find the name for you, it was a pretty good transmiter though.

Monster iCarPlay Plus....$60 on Amazon...retails for $75-90 everywhere else. I hate Monster as much as the next guy and yes, this is a little more expensive than some others, but I bought one for the woman for her bday last month and it's the best one I've ever used. Very powerful transmitter so it sounds good, better than the tape adapter I have in my car. The day I gave it to her we went on a 5+ hour drive and we rarely had to change the station it was set to. At one point I remember we started getting a little noise so I hit pause on the ipod and a station came in full strength. It was actually overpowering it. I'm seriously considering getting one for my car to replace the tape adapter.

I just bought the Belkin TuneCast II ... came yesterday and seems to work pretty well so far. I haven't really played much with it, but it seems to be powerful enough.

Is this for car use? If so, why not just get a headunit with an aux in? I have one in my car and it kills any FM unit. If you live in a big city you might as well forget about using an FM transmitter.

I bought a Pioneer unit with aux in for my Maxima. Not only is it a much much better stereo than stock, it has built in Bluetooth as well. I ran a cable out under the center console that I plug my iPod into.

This is the one I have.

So, that's what I would like to do. I drive a 2004 Honda Accord, and from the research I've done (admitedly, I did this research a long while back), it's difficult to change the headunit because of the stereo panel etc. Does anyone here have any experience with changing the headunit in an 04-06 Accord?

I have tried several of them, and the only one I have gotten to work well is the monster cable FM tuner. I am certainly no monster fanboy, but in this case their product is actually better than the Belkin and the Griffin.

I had to buy a $20 adapter plate for my Maxima. The stock HU was a double din, the adapter plate (plastic) is shaped to match the dash and give you a single din location and a small opening below where you can put a couple CDs or glasses or whatever.

I have this transmitter. It is absolutely terrible -- it is impossible to get a good signal most of the time and I live in the FM barren rural western NY area...

I live in a fairly FM barren area as well, and mine seems to be working OK so far ... must admit it works better when plugged in than on battery power ...

I had it. It was decent. I think thathaving a charging capability while you're driving is important. I remember my iPod was just flashed and I lost my wall charger so IC ouldn't hook it up to the wall to finish the flashing process. I used my car charger that morning as I was setting out to LA and it worked beautifully.

I actually would like an AM/FM receiver for my ipod ... I have never seen one. I guess no one listens to AM anymore.

stay away from iTrip... I have one, it's horrible, signal is so weak I can never find a FM band to use in the city (always some form of disruption)...

Monster ICarPlay. I am no monster fanboy, but their iPod FM tuner is top-notch. I have used a few others, and none of them compare to the Monster.
