Recommend AGP Nvidia card to kill GF3 Ti4200. My wife plays second life and Im not sure if its the network or the video card but the graphics load really slow. Need a sub $100 card with an Nvidia GPU.

TIA

6600GT / Approx $75 used on FS/FT -or- new for around $100

6800XT (256-bit version) / Approx $120 New / This in an 8-pipeline version of the 6800GT & is only slightly faster then the 6600GT

6800GT / Approx $130 used on FS/FT - New cards no longer available at realistic prices

Try for a 7600GS if you can find it for ~$100AR. Should draw less power than comparable GF6 series and be totally silent if it's the stock fanless cooler. Unfortunately, I only see fanless versions starting at ~$135, and a lot of those seem to have slower-than-stock memory speed. This Gigabyte (also at ZZF) looks like your best bet, as far as I can see. (Avoid 512MB cards at your price range, they'll almost surely have very slow memory.)

Tough to recommend a $140 7600GS considering PCIe versions go for $70 or less after rebate. But even a 6600 should be an improvement over a GF3, if you don't want to pony up $140. And you can always try for a used card.

I wouldn't try the 7600 happy medium suggested, mainly b/c it's not AGP. :)

I'm not sure if this is allowed or not (mod delete if it's not) but I have an eVGA 6800 for sale in great condition. Looking for $80 shipped for it. It's an AGP 6800 128mb that unlocks the extra pipelines via RivaTuner 100% of the time, which gives a nice little performance boost for free.

PM me if you're interested.

I have to say a 6800 is a pretty good card for its time: faster than a 9800P and lower power draw. Heck, my 9800P just died and I don't want to bother upgrading to PCIe. I should get in line after bloodthirster. :)

I'd take this deal !
