bah that's what I usually do, but I've got a bulky old Nokia 3595 so that bulge in me pocketses gets annoying when I'm also carrying keys.

But I think I've found an interm solution until I pick up a watch. Since I'm planning to do some traveling this christmas, I went to the radio shack looking for an ultra small calculator to use for money conversions. And I found this sweet gadget for $13!

Automatic is like one of those kinetic watches - basically, watches break down into two categories - mechanical and quartz.

Mecihanical is the one you wind up; quartz is the one with the batteries.

"Automatic" has a weight in the backside for the watch (which is mechanical) so your movement winds up the watch. So as long as you wear the watch frequently enough, you'll never, ever have to wind it up or get new batteries.

I have one, and mine's style is called a "skeleton watch" - it has no face, other than the rims, so you can see every movement. Really cool if you're into those types of things.

But, there's always some drawbacks - I think quartz is a little more accurate in keeping time than mechanical watches. But you might have to adjust them ~ oce a year or so (which you'd do anyways due to daylight savings)

edit: there are always exceptions, I think Swatch has something called "Autoquartz" which is an automatic quartz watch - the russian watch mentioned prior is automatic as well.

Fossil makes good cheap watches I do like those fabric band watches for daily use though. Most metal watches annoy me while typing.

man that is almost as big as a watch! and it makes you look geeky! just wait for a new cell contract then get some sleek cell like the E715 or some siemen's or the cheap and feature-packed and free T610 (or whatever is latest) for free... like i did! (phone fits in change pocket of your pants)

meanwhile do this:
1) get a red, blue, black, and maybe even a green sharpie
2) obtain multiple pieces of scrap paper
3) practice drawing a watch on the paper
4) draw a watch on your wrist, with only one hand. when people ask you what time, say that your cheap bootleg timex watch's hand fell off
5) go around and ask other people for the time
6) repeat step 4 if desired.

Consider a mechanical watch, which provide, IMO, a more satisfying experience (and you can impress your friends with the cool sweeping second hand!).

Here is a nice Seiko you can probably pick up for less than $50 shipped.

Handsome diver-style Seiko

Nice mix of sporty and dressy

You know, I was wondering why these are so cheap and then on that divers watch I noticed the disclaimer;

"Refund only if watch is not authentic."

:D

get a seiko automatic off of ebay. I have skinny wrists too, so regular "guy" watches allways look too big on me.

Is Skagens a good brand, damnit!! I may just have to go over budget :|

What department stores carry Skagens? I want to try a few on before I buy.

Macy's does. I have a skinny girly wrists, and I also have a Skagan. The face is a lot like the one in your pic, but mine is chrome with a black leather band (I hate metal bands).

Edit: Macy's sells them for MSRP though, so just go there to make sure you like the look of it on your wrist, then buy it from Amazon.com.

I would suggest a watch, a non-digital one, with swiss movement. They can be had for $30. Heck, you can get a fake rolex with genuine swiss movement for $30.

I am partial to Movado and Tag Heuer, but those are way more than what you want to pay.

lol I hope you are kidding. The swiss movement itself costs more than $30, unless you meant swiss quartz movements ;).

my rolex replica

I wear a guess waterpro japanese movement watch now. Only costs $85.
