Yes you can, ebay Rolex 16013, plenty under $3k. As I said above, it depends on the year, these models are in the mid to late 80's just as mine was.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm thinking he doesn't want to go the used route, but I think I can land an omega or tag in my budget, and a few of those other suggestions are stunners too, keep the suggestions coming!

is there a site people use for the best deals without having to deal with small independent dealers?

3k will buy a pretty decent computer, and it will have a clock! You will even be able to sync it with a NTP server. Try to do THAT with a Rolex. 😛

Have you considered a Tudor Submariner? You can get them new for at or below $3k.

or you could just get a custom designed watch with the family name on it

not an used one, this was at a jewelry store, so brand new from a legit source with warranty, etc.

What are you even saying? Of course you cant get them new for $3k, as I already said, plenty of legit sellers out there, even on ebay, you get warranties etc.

I'd look at an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean personally.. I've been tempted to try and sell my Tag for one but not sure how much I'd even get for it.

My god, that's sexy! Man, outside of my price range. Hmm, the tag acuaracer is in my price range - do they royally suck? They look a little more teen than the rugged masculinity of the omegas, or should I judge them in person?

Always go try a watch in person IMHO, you want to see how it looks on your wrist.
