You can pick one up for next to nothing 😉

The Avalon seems to be decent too but I heard these were underpowered for it's size.

I'm currently driving a 98 black XL Avalon and for it's size it's suprizingly fast. It's got plenty of kick for merging and overtaking probably due to the 3.0 DOHC 4 valve engine @200 HP. My engine is starting to run a little soft, but not too bad considering I've got almost 150K miles on the sucker. You can carry 5 people very comfortably. The trunk can hold 3 full golf bags and luggage with no problem... I like my Avalon 🙂

Here's a pretty accurate review of the car

lol there's even a bunch of Avalon enthusiasts out there

My, the definition of "roomy" certainly has evolved over the last few decades.

More like, cars keep evolving and you haven't sat in a current model.

I have a 2003 accord, I am 6' even and I actually think it's almost too big. It gets kind of cumbersome to maneuver in the city and I have to be really careful.
I've sat in many of the wondrous econoboxes, including the Accord. Now, obviously YOU'RE the one who hasn't sat in a "roomy" car, if you think the Accord fits the bill. Yeah, cars evolved alright... Thank God the pendulum is starting to swing the other way!

all about the 4th gen maxima... 97-99 specifically (95/96 are not as nice looking)

I think one of these will still be my next car.

Glad I could be a help

Maxima seems like the leading candidate so far.

As far as an Audi as a suggestion, I'd pass on Audi and any american make cars.
CR-V isn't pulling it's weight no more, and more power is definitely needed 🙂

I have had 2 of them, and love Maximas - my next will also be a Maxima.

I had a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant (4cyl) as a rental for a week. I was actually pissed they gave me that car but turned out to like it. It's a lot funner than the '03 Camry I've driven without giving up much refinement. I'm probably going to end up buying a 4cyl because it's such a steal. A low mileage '03 4cyl can be had for 8-9k! You can probably get an 01-02 V6 for 10k which is 4-5 years newer than a comparably priced Camry or Accord.

Don't laugh--this is an awesome car. It doesn't hold its value so it's a steal for what you pay! You should at least test drive one.

BTW--why selling CRV?

My mom has a 1998 Olds Intrigue .... It's a decent car, with decent power and plenty of room. However my 300M is a MUCH nicer car (though it gets slightly worse milage).

Chevy Prism is puny, not at all roomy,

Maximas are nice, they have decent power, they last a long time, however, 300Ms are much much nicer (and slightly faster.)

Maxima was my second choice back when I was in the market for a $16K used car 2 years ago ...
