What does it do now? It seems all of the vids on youtube showing it have been removed.

Palm Pre - amazingly good physical keyboard and on-screen keyboard. For the time being, this is the best smart phone available.

I could have chosen the 3GS, I even paid for my girlfriend's BB Bold ($400), but I am very happy with my choice of the Nokia E71x. I've had it for less than 2 months, and it is a great phone. 3.2 MP camera, and I recorded videos of a concert from the stage (all access passes are great) and the drums are actually audible!!! That amazed me, but the phone is a pleasure to use, look at, and it has a few features that make my girlfriend (with her Bold) jealous. Symbian also has the absolute best IRC app for any phone, as well as an app store and all that.

I really dont wanna start a pissing contest but at the same time I will have to politely disagree.

While the keyboard is of good quality it is way too small, even for my tiny hands. I frequently made mistakes when pushing buttons.
And not once did I ever see a software keyboard. Nor could I find one in the app store. Was yours a special version or something?

My vote:
Wait for the HTC Hero (assuming you dont hate Android for some reason) and go with that. Its out on Sprint Oct. 11. All the reviews say its the best Android phone to date. All the complaints were the same as previous Android complaints but most of those have been fixed or at least made less troublesome.

If you dont like Andoid you should go for a basic Blackberry like one of the Curves, Tour, or Bold. The Storm has too many issues for people with the inaccurate touchscreen keyboard and slow UI.

If you are a WinMo fan the newer HTC's are supposed to be awesome.

I like the business Nokias such as the E71 and other similar models, but the physical keyboard is cramped and theres no touchscreen to make up for it. The new E72 is supposed to be better, but no one knows for sure if it will be available in the U.S.

This is the thing; I have NO IDEA what the differences are b/w WinMo, BB, or Android. PLEASE if someone can just compare and contrast them in a simple way.

Right now I'm mostly going to use the phone for the camera and websurfing. So which OS would be best for web surfing?

That can't be the reason Verizon and Sprint don't have it. HTC makes CDMA and GSM versions of most of their phones. If there's a market for CDMA iPhones (and there is a strong one) then they'll manufacture them.

Given these two requirements I would rule out the Blackberry. WinMo and Android are your best bets. HTC designed its own interface to overlay WinMo and Android. TouchFlo 3D for WinMo and SenseUI for Android. Both interfaces make the underlying OS somewhat irrelevant.

Edit: Since you're on Verizon I'd say that the Imagio (which will be available soon) is your best bet. It's Windows Mobile 6.5 and is the same phone as the Touch Pro 2 without the hard heyboard.

If you move to Sprint to take advantage of their less expensive plans then the Hero (android) is your best bet.

Again, IMHO, WinMo and Android are a toss up as to which is better.

No. You cant compare Android, WebOS, WinMobile and Apple Mini in a simple way.

These are high end phones and if you dont care to know anything about them then you probably dont need them. They are for folks with lots of needs and special requirements, like Palms ability to consolidate all your contact data from across many platforms, like all your emails, social sites, and Outlook.

My suggestion is get one at a time and play for a week. Return them within the grace period and all you pay is the activation fee (commonly 30 bucks). Its a cheap way to see what works for you. Thats what I did with many Verizon phones, a few Sprint phones, some T-mobiles and several AT&T's. MUCH cheaper than getting stuck with a crappy, overpriced plans for two years which will end up costing thousands.

wow touch pro 2 looks gorgeous on VZW.

Only thing that Imagio has over the TP2 seems to be the camera. As well as a new version of WinMo.

It seems one of these two phones is going to be mine. My only concern is should I be worried the TP2 is running on old WinMo? Or it doesn't really make a difference. Thanks for all the feedback fellas.

TP2 will get a WinMo 6.5 update in October so it will ultimately run the same version of Windows as the Imagio. Additionally, there will be an unlocker for the TP2 soon and then we'll be able to flash custom ROMs onto them and run either version of Windows.

Sony Ericsson Satio should be hitting within a week or two. Xperia 2 should be here within a month.

True. Never really had a problem browsing on my 8330 except at times some videos don't play via Youtube which I think is the media players' fault. Even though I love my BB I'm going to take a chance on the Hero this coming up weekend. Hopefully my local Sprint Store gets a decent supply in.

The Full Adobe flash player was announced yesterday for BlackBerry, Pre, 'Driod and WinMo. No announcement for the iPhone though.

Looks like the mobile browser war just got a little more interesting...
