Recommend a PDA

I'm trying to decide on a PDA around $300. As far as features for the price you pay, it seems to me that the Dell handhelds offer the most bang for the buck.

Although I will take recommendations for other models, I'm having some difficulty deciding between the top of the line Axim X30, or the entry level Axim X50. The X30 is on sale right now for $314, has a 624Mhz processor, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and is slightly smaller than the X50. The X50 has the new design, includes Windows Media 10 Mobile, has both a CF and SD slot, but only has a 416Mhz processor and no Wi-Fi.

I will be using this mostly for email, possibly a little websurfing (if I get one with Wi-Fi), and transferring notes, word docs, etc from my pc to my PDA. The multimedia features aren't that important since I have a separate mp3 player for that purpose.

Are there any other new features on the X50 that justify buying it over the X30? BTW, I don't have a problem with the design of the X30, and actually may prefer the silver finish as opposed to the black X50.

Are there any other models/brands I should consider? I think I would prefer Pocket PC to Palm.

Thanks for your input!

I have had several PDA's and I also favour the Pocket PC variety. I have a ton of spreadsheets and documents that I keep sync'd between my destop PC and the PDA.

As far as brand/model, I currently have a Toshiba e330, and it is very nice, but somewhat slow. There are over 1200 names in my contact database and opening that is taking longer and longer. I would go for the fastest processor you can afford that has the features you need. ie I don't need wireless connectivity, but I do need voice memo capability.

Thanks, I'll check out the Toshiba models. I also like the look/feel of the HP's, but those are quite a bit more expensive.

Go with the X30. It's the best bang for your buck without a doubt. And, tell them you want 15% off (not just the 10%)...they'll do it.
