Have at it. My requirements:

-NOT wireless
-Must be black
-Enter key, arrows, and backspace key must be standard sizes and shapes

I don't think their keys are the normal size/shape. Well the keyboard takes up super space thats for sure. I use the MS Internet keyboard for ~$15, what can i say i'mma cheapie. it works fine.

They are, although the bottom keys are a little bit curved out like the space bar but yeah it dun cause problems.

I don't feel like finding a link but check out Keytronic. They're keyboards are standard, inexpensive, and have more key resistance than most others, so you get that oldschool "clicky" feel instead of mush.

Linky

I loved all 6 Keytronic keyboards I had my freshman year in college. They just don't take very well to beer or mixed drinks. 😱

Depends on one's typing preferences, I suppose. I like the old "mechanical keyboard" feel, though these keyboards are somewhat difficult to find now. Currently using a black 3-year old Dell 104-key "mechanical keyboard" and have a similar 5-year old beige model in my closet. Easy to clean (once you get the case apart) and last a long while, which is fortunate as I have no idea who makes them anymore.

Logitech Black Internet Keyboard for $15

I've got one of those on my other system. It's a great keyboard...unless you play games. In GTA3/Vice City, I need to press Shift, W, and E simultaneously to sprint forward and diagonally to the right. It can't do it. Instead, I sprint straight forward and get beeps. Same thing on two motherboards (Abit KR7A-RAID and NF7-S 2.0). I really like how it feels and looks though.

My girlfriend just got a Logitech Elite. I like it, but fear that it'll have the same problem as above...could anyone try that out? If not, I guess I'll install GTA3 on her computer and find out.

Right now I have a black, almost old school mechanical kind of keyboard made by Dell. Here's the only picture I could find of it on google, except mine is black, not white and grey: Pic

I like the new quiet, mushy feel of the Logitech keyboards, and I really like the Elite. I'm just afraid it'll suck for gaming like my black Logitech Internet Keyboard does. I also wanted to see if anyone had any other recommendations since the Elite is a $40 chunk of plastic.

Logitech Elite gerbil i doubt you'll have the same problem with the elite. it's a much much newer keyboard, and running it in usb playing CS (i use a lot of keys at the same time too) i have NO problems

Can anyone reccomend a corded nice black keyboard that is ergo/split with media keys? I'm currently using a MS Natural MultiMedia and really like the board a lot, if it was black it would be perfect for me(I type ~30-40WPM faster on split boards then I do on old school, despite spending two decades with the old clackers). I need the media keys for volume controls, I use headphones that don't have volume controls and it sucks when you are in game and the cutscene is a lot louder then the in game 😉

Price isn't a big concern for me, however I need it corded. My kids are great about keeping their hands off of computer hardware except the mouse and keyboard which are fair game(and only my youngest would try and take it in the other room). I actually considered picking up the $100 wireless version of the board I have now(except it's black) but that could end up in my youngest's toybox too easy(luckily the older three have outgrown taking Daddy's toys 🙂 ).
