recommend a MP3 player

i'm looking for a hard drive based MP3 player that is lightweight, can be strapped to your arm, and is around $250. so far, the only one i know of is the apple ipod mini. anything else out there?

IRiver IFP-195

512mb flash based mp3 player, it comes with an armband. I'd go with the ipod mini since its the same price and you get like 8 times more storage.

Edit you can get the 128 or 256 version and buy the armband seperatly (they don't include it in those packages)

So when I exercise and my iPod works great the whole while, that means it's got what, flash in it and no hard drive? The hard drive is only accessed for like 5 seconds... and it can withstand shock while running and doing other things, I know, I've jogged with mine quite a bit so yeah.

You people obviously need to try the product before you diss it... jeez.

The iPod only has a 20MB cache. It takes more than a couple seconds to spin up the drive, copy data to the cache, spin down the drive and lock the heads. So every 3-4 songs you've got a period where you could crash the heads. Personally, I wouldn't risk it doing cardio. Lifting, however, I think you'd be ok (unless you're a total spaz).

fm module/remote? i heard the dell remote was cheaper and better, i'm not sure about the better part though as i haven't had the chance to try either.

i'd still say ipod; i haven't had any issues whatsoever with mine, even when used in more abusive situations.

spend a few more bucks and get the 10/15GB model, i hate the ipod mini and personally i don't think it'll withstand 1/10th the abuse of a adult ipod.

i've been reading up on the the muvo2 player this weekend. seems pretty nice. how about the one from dell?

The dell FM modulator is made by Belkin.
