Recommend a movie please

I'm at my cousin's, I posted a thread about making a bday card earlier. Well I'm thinking about renting a movie or some movies. What should we rent? He's into computers and sci-fi, but we've all watched Star Trek movies far too often, and he has most of them, so I don't want something Star Trek. But a really good sci-fi movie would be nice. Something with reasonable amounts of action and/or blood with a good story and acting. What movies does that bring to mind for you guys? Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Heheh, I see you get my nick. Either that or you saw me post positively of the matrix previously.

Unfortunately he has that and we don't really want to watch it again, although I do love that movie. 3000 miles to graceland is alright... I saw it in the theatres, I didn't think that highly of it.

Something with spaceships, shooting, etc... high tech type stuff. Maybe if Universal Soldier was actually a good movie... Oh well. lol.

Alien, Aliens, or Blade Runner might be good choices... Galaxy Quest if you want something a bit different and not so serious

Hehe, Galaxy Quest I saw... That was actually pretty funny. Maybe I'll rent that.. but it won't be the only thing I rent. Alien(s) kind of a good suggestion, but I've seen that way too many times too, as my friend is obsessed with those movies.. :-\

I can't recall Blade Runner... can someone sum it up for me?

Nope. It is the one where Jodie Foster crunches more WU's than any one of us and as a reward gets to visit lil green men. . Actually, if you are looking for scifi and haven't seen it, you must. It is a good movie. What exactly are you looking for?

Great movie. Jean Reno is fantastic. If you like bank heists, you must see Heat (1995)

A second vote for Bladerunner. Harrison Ford plays a "blade runner" stalking genetically made criminal replicants to kill them. 2 of the replicants are played by Sean Young and Darryl Hannah. It's a really gorgeously done film and such a classic sci-fi film. Please go see it!

I'm leaning more and more towards Blade Runner. I guess I'll rent that. Perhaps that and Contact?
