I currently carry around so much crap:
-Keys
-Iphone
-Flip HD camcorder (it was purchased for spontaneous shooting)
-Big headphones (grado sr60)
-Gym shorts
-Sometimes my macbook pro
..

I had this but it was a too formal (I mean, I'm the 27 year old web guy at work, not a pseudo-exec) and, well, my cat peed on it.

I need a replacement that's work appropriate but not too pretentious.

Suggestions?

Get a Chrome messenger bag. Nothing says badass like a messenger bag with a built in seat belt buckle!

i have one similar to this one, i carry 2 17" wide screen laptops, cables and all the fixins, plus my telemetry connectors/ cables/ crap as well as a digital camera and a slew of other crap i really dont need to carry with me at all times. it also has a file folder in the back section for paperwork.

been using mine for the last 5 months commuting to manhattan from jersey city. excellent product.

if you want to bring a laptop too, that wont work. i just ordered a tom bihn super ego with a brain cell for my cross country flights. but for local, a regular tom bihn ego is probably enough.

The trouble with the bags like Timbuk2, Chrome, etc. is that they just don't look professional, imo. Most people couldn't care less what bag you have, but if you're trying to project a certain level of professionalism a backpack or something similar says more "just out of college" than hardened professional.

I'm partial to Levenger bags. I have a Coach, some Victorinox and a handful of others, but the Levenger is the best quality, imo.

I will say that a backpack is probably the most comfortable for a lot of equipment/papers/etc. while traveling.

Geez...with the exception of Demon-xanth's post, the prices for all the other bags/brands in this thread are absurd! :shocked:

perhaps it would just be easier to realize that your life is still worth living without having to depend on so much excess junk?

A good bag will last a lifetime. Men get very few things to carry with us through our careers. A bag that's gone through hell and has that weathered look can be a nice thing, imo.

Maybe I'm just too caught up in the whole idea, but it seems like all the professionals I know have some bag that they've had for many years.
