Recommend a HDTV please

I'm looking at getting a HDTV for our bedroom. I've already got a 56" DLP for movies and serious TV watching, so this TV will only be used for TV watching, and maybe hook up a DVD player for an occasional movie, but nothing serious (think chick flicks, no fancy sound needed). If it matters, it will be wall mounted

My wife doesn't want anything super big, so ~40-42" is probably the biggest TV I can get.

What are some good "bang for the buck" recommendations? I don't really want to spend much over $1000-$1200. Viewing distance is probably 10-12', so I don't think I even need 1080p, since I won't be able to see a difference between it and 720p.
