Could anyone recommend a good data recovery utility? I'm specifically looking for something that will create boot disks that will allow you to recover data on corrupt partitions. I'm looking at EasyRecovery Pro from McAfee, but I'm wondering if there's something better out there.

Thanks so much!

Ennergi,

I think the best out there is Acronis True Image (current version is 11). I've been using Acronis for 2 years and it will guide you through making a boot disk which you can use on a machine with a bare drive and get good results.

You can download a trial version good for 15 days. Be advised if you use it to make an image, the trial will likely be gone when you have a real problem. If you like it, buy it.

Welcome to the forum.

Will Acronis recover data on a corrupt drive, though? I know it's a great utility for making images, but I'm specifically looking for a tool that will recover fragmented files on a partition that has failed to book.

Will it do that as well?

Thanks for the reply!

I can't remember what software I used at a friends house but I was able to recover lost parts off a dynamic ntfs disc and it worked so unbeleiveably well. I wouldn't mind buying it. It's nothing anyone here has mentioned.

I always use GetDataBack. Works great. Just slave up the drive to the PC and it will search it and everything. Dont' know about a boot disk though.
