Recommend a good Data Recovery business in So-Cal?

Well, I pulled out my old drive and certain CRITICAL files won't transfer over to my (newer) HD. They are regular .doc and .xls files. I mean, it is like 5-6 files that REFUSE to transfer when I copy and paste; all the other 100+ files transfer except for these 5 critical files. My friend recommends me to go to a Data Recovery center to extract those files?

Do you know any other way?

Thank-you

have you tried the getdataback software? i think it might let you just copy the files over and you not have to go to a company.

actually, that is the problem, it won't let me open any of the "corrupted" files; hence, I can not even transfer them open.
