What's the best filter (free or paid) that's out there? It's to filter browsing to prevent kids from going where they "may" not intend to go.

My router at home is running Endian 2.3 and I integrated the HTTP Proxy and Content Filter with Active Directory.

Kids log into any computer with their AD account and are automatically filtered at the router level. Parents are not filtered. Any account not meeting those guidelines is filtered just like the kids.

Only problem is since it's a proxy, Games for Windows Live doesn't want to work, activating new Windows installs are a pain, etc.

Any filter can/will be beat by a child with 30 minutes of spare time and a desire to bypass said filter.

The good news is they will learn a little something about networking which might spark their career in IT. 🙂

OpenDNS. I've never actually used it to filter adult content (only use it to block known adware, phishing and parked domains) but I believe it works rather well.

List of options:

Well urlfilter is a filter that functions with a proxy. Obviously only I know the password. Its not like locally installed filter software. It is the gateway to the internet.
