Recommend a decent php based photo gallery script

I'm currently using Plogger for every day image uploading, albums etc... but I migrated my stuff to a new server and now half the code in plogger is deprecated and it just does not work because php decided to deprecate tons of functions, and guess plogger was using bad coding habits and functions that were probably not considered good coding. I've been fighting with it for several days to try to get it to work to no avail. It just acts stupid now, sometimes it lets me upload, other times it does not.

I may just code my own, but before I do that I'm open to any suggestions for something that wont break the minute there's a php update that comes out.

I've been using Gallery for years and years (~12).
Gallery1 is PHP only with metadata stored in files.
Gallery2/3 is PHP+MYSql
Both support plugins, comment captcha, themes, etc, great community.
Gallery3 had a full security audit so should be secure.

.....

Well crap, I just went to get you the URL: http://galleryproject.org/

And found "Gallery is going into hibernation" 2014-06-20

So it turns out I am in the market too, let me know what you find? Please.

This is an interesting read on some of the options:

Any other suggestions? I'm getting sick of fighting with Plogger, it seems to randomly crap out a lot more now. For some reason it does not seem to like panoramas. I've been playing with this program called Hugin and for some reason it completely craps out at the files. It uploads them but they wont even display in a browser. Even if I upload the file manually it wont display. Weirdest thing ever. The file opens fine locally.

Worse case scenario guess I'll look into coding my own. I've kind of been wanting an easy web based image/video/misc file upload type system so guess I may need to just code something the way I want.

I forgot about that, I'll have to play with it. Does that let me make stuff public though, like make video/photo galleries and such? Or perhaps hide the actual gallery but make the direct link public, and change other settings of that sort?
