I live in manhattan, have been hit on by gays alot. Maybe I am? 🙂

The whole davidoff, polo sport, drakkar deal is so connected to the guido, macho image. Maybe its from my experiences, but thats what I think of when I smell those colognes. Joey Rocco, Sonny Bucciani. ahah.
 
I'm gonna check out the following colognes based on your descriptions, DigDug:

Ralph Lauren - Romance
Gucci - Envy
Calvin Klein - Obsession

Right now I'm using Hugo Boss...had the same bottle for probably 2 years now, I don't wear it that much. Time for something different though since I'm almost out.
 
I've got Nautica Competition right now and I like it pretty well. If I should come up with some excess money that needs to be spent, I might buy some CK Eternity. I almost bought that when I got the Nautica.

Edit: One of my friends who's usually not into spending money on things like cologne and that sort of thing and has extremely picky tastes about things like that said he liked Nautica a lot.

No verdict yet. 🙁 I don't think I have enough money to buy cologne right now. I have like $43.
 
I've got bottles of the following:

- Curve
- Nautica Competition
- Hugo Boss

In my experience, those are listed in the proper panty-melting order. My girlfriend literally falls into me, closes her eyes, inhales, then sighs whenever she gets close enough to whiff what I wear. Awesomeness! 😀
 
I usually go with Eternity, Obssession, or CK One. But, this year my fiancee got me some Chrome. It smells real good. All her friends and my female friends love it.
 
Joop Nightflight for me. As others say, try it yourself, and actually PUT IT ON. Just smelling some sprayed on a sniffer card won't help as typically your body oils and such will react with the scent making it smell different once it's actually on you.

I'll second that one...or third or whatever.

I also wear Nautica competition that i bought back in highschool...but only every now and again

EDIT: oh yeah...and i shower with old-spice high endurance pure sport soap , and wear the OS:HE pure sport deoderant without any cologne...and i get "your cologne smells good" relatively often...i just say "thanks"
