Recommend a Coffee Maker

Our coffee makers keep failing within a year (cheap?) and we always end up buying a new one. I'm tired of having to buy a new one all the time. Can you guys recommend a good coffee maker that will last?

I cannot recommend this maker enough. It's the best affordable maker you can buy.

Amazon has a deal for a free grinder as well with this maker. If you don't grind your own beans, start now. The difference is amazing.

Seconded! I don't have this exact one, but mine's a Cuisinart as well. You pay a little more, but mine's lasted 5 years so far!

Sign up for Gevalia, get 1lb of coffee and a decent coffee maker for $10-15, cancel Gevalia when coffee maker arrives. The first one I got lasted a couple years, but now it's in the closet as a backup since I signed up again to get one with a clock/timer on it. That one has been working for me for at least three years.

We have a BUNN coffee maker (home model)... it's going on 8 years old now... still makes a hot pot of coffee in 3 min.

Thirded. Going on 6 years for mine. I have the same one linked by Amused. Paid $50 for it at Sams Club at the time.

btw-to those with Bunn coffee makers. Do Bunn coffee makers keep the water hot all the time and is that the way it brews so fast?

$15 french press, $20 coffee grinder. Buy beans and grind them per pot. Get them roasted freshly if you can find them in your area.

Or you can get a cheep hot air popcorn popper, buy unroasted beans on the net, and roast, grind, and brew for the best tasting coffee that you've ever had.

(coffee is actually only good for 2 weeks after roasted (3-4 days after grinding) before going stale and losing a lot of flavor)

Another vote for the Bunn. We've only owned Bunn coffeemakers for about 20 years, and I'd HATE to go to any other kind. Having 3 minute coffee really spoils ya.
The one we have now is 8-9 years old and still going strong, in the garage, I have the one we replaced with the current one, (old one was black, new one is white-matches kitchen better. :roll: ) Old one still works just fine. We gave the one that was my mom's to our daughter. It was at least 15 years old and still made excellent coffee in 3 minutes.

I'll throw in my vote for the Bunn as well.

My mom's had one for a good 10 years I believe, and it's made her at least one pot of coffee a day every day for that time.

I would think that has to be quite an energy waster and a source of humid heat, at least in that corner of the kitchen.

IIRC, it uses 35 watts to keep the water hot. I'll gladly pay the tiny extra bit that costs every month to have 3 minute coffee.
