I was thinking a Canon A310, at BestBuy for under 200 bucks. Is this a decent camera? She's a freshman so doesnt need something fantastic.

I bought a Nikon Coolpix 2100 for $129 AR. May not be able to find it anymore (try Costco), but the 2200 is pretty cheap too. 2MB, great features, including movie clips.

Agreed or the Fuji A205 for $95 at your local Walmart B&M.
 
The A310 is a piece of junk, unfortunately. For around $200, you should be able to do better than a 3.2 Megapixel camera with no optical zoom.

My local Costco has it for $119. Just picked one up for a friends birthday present...had a trial run with it for a day...works pretty good for a 2MP digicam. Simple to use and has 3x optical zoom...can't beat that for the price. Also had some pretty good reviews.
 
Most Staples have the Olympus D-565 3.2MP on clearance for around $179 minus a coupon, 150 + tax.

I have an unused A60 I would make you a deal on. 😀
