There is no such thing as a bullet proof vest. If the title says it's a bulletproof vest skip and move on to a real manufacturer of quality products. These aren't something you go cheap on, you get what you pay for. Second Chance makes good stuff.

Browse their soft plates and buy what fits your needs.

For a hardplate insert I really like the IMPAC ST plates, they are what we use. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeowmnioCKQ

You get what you pay for. Buy junk and don't be pissed when it fails.

You don't have to be pissed. You'll be dead...assuming you ever need it of course.

Since almost any hunting rifle cuts through any bulletproof vest like butter I don't mess with it.

Live in a good area until SHTF and vests would be useless after.

That's why a 30-06 is my home defense gun,i figure if i were going to rob houses for a living the 2 items i would buy is a gun and a vest

Or at least catch bullets in their teeth like Bruce Leroy.

haha just saw that movie for the first time last week.....so bad yet so funny... chick was totally doable though

As the OP stated, he's not looking to stop rifle-fire, just common handgun calibers. A "bullet-proof" vest will typically prevent penetration of those..... He would have to have plates to stop rifle-fire and even then a 30-06 would take the cake, or liver as the case may be.

You know what would be hilarious? Right after he don that bulletproof vest and got into a situation that requires it, the first shot he receive is a headshot rendering the vest useless

Yup. People getting shot in the head is always good for a laugh...

Amazon.com has a 20% off coupon in the Sports+Outdoors dept.
there are some Bulletproof vests in that dept.

i'm looking for something light + not too bulky, and can stop common handgun calibers. ie: 9mm, .40, .45

are there concealable bulletproof vests under spring/fall clothing? such that people cant tell you're wearing one?

THX

Some of the ceramics might stop a lead 30-06..none can stop 270 win or any of the magnums. Which is about 50 different bullets. No vest can stop a head shot, leg, arm or side..basically in US it's waste unless you're dealing with pistol users like a cop or something. I'd rather be able to run and hide than be lumbering test target if SHTF. No vest for me.

Good thinking.

For all the lives saved by armor ever since the US ground troops started using ceramic armor under kevlar, I wonder how many were lost because they were too encumbered by the extra weight and movement restriction.

Well those insurgents shoot 7.62x39 which does get blocked pretty easy plus IED shrapnel protection. On balance I think it's good they are armored up. Over here though in an "insurgency" it would be of little use due to 50 million high powered hunting rifles out there.

I'll bet if you try really, really hard, you can leave your parents basement without a CCW or "Bullet Proof" vest.
Go ahead, chances are you will survive.
I have been going outside for the better part of 56 years, and I have never been shot at (in the USA that is).
As long as you are not in a foreign country, I'm willing to bet you'll survive.
