Recommend a Blu-ray player

I'm thinking about getting a Blu-ray player in a few months, but I'm already looking around at some options.

I'm looking at the new $499 Sony, and the $599 Panasonic (comes with 5 Blu-rays). I want something that will play Blu-rays for awhile. I know the Blu-ray standard isn't finished or something, but as long as the current players will play the discs I get thats fine. I thought about getting a PS3, but I would never use it for games. I would really like to stick with a standalone and not a console.

So whats the best Blu-ray player right now? Or should I wait for another player?

The Panasonic is a great buy right now. It has the widest audio support and is probably the most reliable player out there. It is also the only one with 7.1 analog outputs, and I believe the only one which plays DVD-audio.

I don't know as much about the Sony, but if you don't need the features of the Panasonic, $100 less is something to think about.
