Recommend a bike trip to me

I usually get these emails from Trek regarding their Trek Travel tours: link. Those tours looks beautiful and as much as I want to take part in one of those, they're way too expensive for me.

So me and a friend are trying to organize a trip on our own. I've already booked up most of my vacation this year, so it'll be a 3 day trip. So far I've found some pretty good deals in the northeast (Vermont to be exact), but I want to bike someplace other than around this area.

Any place that you would recommend?

Come next to my house 🙂 We have a 15 mile bike trail that has some of the most beautiful forest scenes you'll ever see (well...maybe wait till spring).

I did this one year and it was great.

Is a flat mostly gravel rail to trail to much mountain for you? http://www.greenbrierrivertrail.com/ We did half of that last year and it is a beautiful area. You could also hit http://www.cassrailroad.com/ and Green Bank Teliscope.

No, that's not too much mountain for me. I guess what I meant by non-mountain was non-mountain biking. Gravel road is what I'm looking for. Those links looks nice. I'm gonna look more into the first one even though I really wanted to get away from the northeast area.

I did a 3 day 300 mile charity ride a few years back. That kind of thing interest you?

Any scenic trail. Just looking for beautiful places to ride.

That looks really great, but I really don't wanna do a charity ride for this. This is gonna be a mini vacation sort of thing, so last thing I wanna do is ask people to donate money. I'll leave the raising money when I do my charity ride end of the summer in CT.

I guess you didn't see who posts the 5 boro thread every year 🙂. I love that ride. I do that every year and already registered for this year. Can't wait!

Lulz 😀
Well, you didnt mention it in THIS thread, now did you?? 🙂
It fit your description almost to a T.

Yeah it did fit my description. I'd love to do something like that somewhere else though (except more like a 3 day thing).

Might be too far away for you, but here's a place I went last year:
Hiawatha Bike Trail

It's by Wallace, ID on I-90. Pretty fun and easy. You just need a light for the tunnels.

Yes, that's what I'm looking for! I don't care how far it is for me since I'm looking to get away from the northeast. The only thing is that it's only 15 miles and I was looking for something longer (maybe 100 miles?). Thanks for the info though. This place is definitely one of my options now.

This tour is quite popular, and not just in the Midwest - link. I've ridden it several times. Goes through my hometown so I get to reminisce a bit as well. Good "support" all along too.

Is there a thread for this year yet? Last year was so overcrowded that I'm hesitating to sign up. 2005 (except for the early rain and the ferry schedule) and 2006 were much better.
