Also, in my opinion (And this is MY OPINION) people spend too much time on sub's. It reproduces bass. Thats about it. Its a key component to a system, but the midrange and highs are FAR more important to a quality system. Regardless, alot of good options listed. Might check out this forum

he actually need this because his 2 stero speakers are magnapans. and they suck for base but rule for highs and mids. adding a sub will take off all teh stress from the speakers and make it sound allot better

I'm reviving a long dead thread but has anyone heard anything on the Dahlquist QX100s? I'm looking for info on it but can't seem to find much. It's a 10" cone, I'm looking into it mainly because they're getting discontinued and I can get them for only CAD 250. The specs seem pretty nice 100W RMS, +/- 1dB from 45 Hz, but I'd have to drive 1.5 hrs (each way) to give them a listen.

My dad and I are considering replacing an aging PSB sub. We're looking mostly at 12" (that are generally more expensive) but this sub seems like such a steal that I thought I'd check if anyone'd heard it. We'd be using it in a home theater setup.

If you're seriously matching it up with maggies, I would look into investing your money into an entry-level high-end sub, like the Velodyne Digital Drive 8, which will be $1K...with such amazing speakers like Maggies, you want a sub that will complement and blend perfectly, which the DD (with auto-calibration and included mic) will do quite well. If not the DD, then perhaps an older line, like the HGS or something.

we ended up getting my dad the KSW 10. he doesent need teh 12

im looking at an SVS for myself

Are you and your dad happy with it? Do you think it would've been worthwhile to get the 12 incher for the deeper response?

for the ammount of music he listsn to it will be fine. its not for a HT its just for his stero. his 2 magnapans have 0 bass responce. this sup will complement them perfectly

and he doesnt listsn to a ton of bass stuff. mostly classic rock and classicial

This isn't a real subwoofer thread until Viper GTS posts a pic of his sub.

Parts Express 12" Titanic III 500 watt subwoofer kitnull

Anubis, it's meant to be a kit, an entry level easy to complete DIY subwoofer kit :)

I'd love to see a Klipsch or Velodyne 12" at that price point keep up with the Titanic ;)

Parts Express does offer the option of buying this subwoofer pre-assembled. However, the price jumps another $150 - to $686.70. Given the fact that it might take a whole hour to assemble (mount the driver, amp and connect the wires to the driver) - I think saving the $150 assembly fee is a "no-brainer." :)

Noooooooooooooooooo ..... you don't want a sub that booms too much. ;)

You want a sub that blends well with your system ... and one that will vibrate the pictures off your walls when you least expect it.

Now, I know you were just kidding about the "booming sound" part. Right? ;)
