I'm looking for a flat panel monitor in the 30 to 37 inch range to be my primary monitor/tv. I often watch tv on my 19inch lcd from 15 feet away and I'm getting sick of it. I play some games, nothing too intensive (UT2K4, Farcry, Civ4, HL2/CS:S) and currently run the system in my sig. The 9800 Pro has DVI out so I assume this will work with the DVI port on a typical lcd tv (or is it a different standard?).

Anyway, I'm willing to spend up to 1500 on this and I'm looking fro experience and reviews. I watch dvd's, watch tv, surf/type, and game on my pc. I don't need the best-of-the-best as far as fidelity is concerned but I want the monitor to look good doing normal pc stuff, not just watching movies/gaming (ie some of these tv's look crappy on the desktop, does this have to do with res?).

I have never delved into hdtv stuff so the resolutions on these devices are a bit confusing. Will I have a problem running 1366x768 on a pc? Is it worth it to get one with 1920x1080? Any opinions would be helpful here. Also, is this a good time to buy this sort of thing? Is there technology around the corner that will render todays stuff obsolete? What about this windows vista crap that requires a special monitor...

TIA

BTW, I realize someone had a thread on this stuff recently (someone posted a link to a sceptre 37inch I liked) but I couldn't find it.

Dman - I've also seen a lot of recommendations for the following TV as well
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getp...asterid=9154017&search=westinghouse+37

One issue i've seen some people bring up is that the high resolution of the screen mentioned above (& the sceptre for that matter) would make video card replacement necessary quite often. Does anyone have any input on this? I'm running and AMD 3500, w/ 1GB RAM & an ATI 9800 pro video card. I'm guessing this wouldn't be sufficient to play games at this resolution.

For older games it should be fine but it won't handle many of the newer ones at native resolution
