Reciever recommendation

I am looking to expand my surround system and not sure how to do it yet. Here is my current setup.

55in Sony HD LCD
Sony all-in-one home theatre 5-disk DVD
Xbox 360
DVR
surround sound - 5spks + 1 subwoofer

I would like to be at least be able to have the DVD and DVR play though the surround sound. I do not think the all-in-one unit supports multiply inputs for sound. I figure I need a reciever, however can the all-in-one unit connect to a reciever? I do not have the model but its a Sony lower end one, price around $200(3yrs old). I do not want to spend more than $300 on a reciever. I would like the receiver to play DVD/DVR and secondary be able to plug the Xbox through it if possible.

thx for the help.

You should have no problem finding a receiver to do that. Once you get things like HDMI upconversion, DVD upconversion, multipleetc. it gets more expensive.

I would take a look at the lower end Yamaha, Denon or Onkyo receivers.

Onkyo TX-SR505
Yamaha RX-V461
Denon AVR-1507
H&K AVR-146

Are you happy with the sound from those sony speakers you have?

If you are and you don't think you're going to be upgrading them in the future, you could get a decent receiver that will handle what you want to do for about $175 or so.

If you find the sound lacking, you might think about replacing the speakers and receiver at the same time. You could get a pretty good HTIB set for not much more than you're thinking of spending now.

Go out to ebay and bid on a Pioneer refurb from the factory.

You can get a good deal on a 816 or 1016 for less than half of what a new one would cost and it is still warranted by the factory.
