Recently loaded Vista on my laptop...

I recently got Vista on my laptop, and I've never been a big fan but my tech-savvy father insisted that I'd like it once I got used to it. So, I gave it a shot. But now that I have it, whenever I shut my laptop down it seems to only go to sleep.

I didn't even notice it until I went to boot it up and realised it had only been sleeping. Naturally I was annoyed by this, because I sometimes go days without using my laptop and just use my desktop instead.

At first I thought maybe it was just me accidentally selecting "Sleep" or "Hibernate" instead of "Shut Down" but after making a point of consciously selecting shut down... I've discovered that it still goes to sleep.

Anyone else have this problem? Or perhaps know why on earth it does that? 😕

This is normal for vista. If you go to Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Power options -> left sidebar Choose what closing lid does you can decide what you would like vista to do. As for me, I use hibernate when on battery and sleep when plugged in, both reduce "boot" time drastically. Hope this info helps
