recent xbox 360 update has my console auto shutting off

The fall update of 2011 destroyed my then new xbox 360. The flash went through but when it attempted to reboot it kept saying install the HD with the update, which the HD was installed. Called MS and gave them the error # and they had no clue and wouldnt do anything for me. Its was 3 days past the one year mark. I still have it. Googled it for months but found no other similar cases.
