F.E.A.R 2 was definitely worth the $5 that I paid on Steam; excellent continuation of the overall plot...if you can get it cheap, go for it. Same for Bioshock, which is more of a FPS with RPG elements, but has a great story (& multiple endings). Hope Singularity goes on sale someday (it hasn't been out that long).

You gave up on Batman: AA? Why? How far did you go in the game? Granted it's not a FPS but it's a great game on it's own.

Try Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare (1 not 2), Bioshock (1 not 2), Mass Effect.
Have you try Max Payne 1?

Not very far, like the first boss. It was an okay game, but like the others, I got to a point where I'd forget about it from one weekend to the next. I loved the Max Payne titles, really great games that kept me interested all the way through. I think it's that solitary, close quarters atmosphere that I'm after. This is probably why games like the CoD titles haven't appealed to me as much. Although I did love the original MoH:AA - I guess it had a lot less "group" stuff than CoD and it was certainly less cookie cutter.
