Recent car shoppers - what's a good auto loan interest rate right now?

Shopping for a new car, and wasn't sure what to expect.

I've got good credit, at least low 700s.

What should I be aiming for?

Also, any decent online ways to check your credit score?

The best rate offered is usually through the credit union. My credit union's current new car loan is 6.39%.

New or used?

I have good credit, and got a 6.15% rate for a 36 month car loan on a 12 year old car. I think a better rate is available for new / nearly new cars.

Eh, you can probably... if it's a new car your after... find a 0% special offer without too much effort. There's a lot of them out there especially since the family pricing on US cars is no more.

used cars, however, rarely if ever attach to 0% offers and frequently come with higher rates than new cars anyway.

Depends on the car, year and company. For example, I just picked up a new 07 GTI MKV at 5.4%. The 06 was going for 0%. Shop around the manuf. websites, they usually will tell you what their specials are currently.

I think toyota's got sale event going on right now.

0% up to 48 mos.
1.9% for 60 mos and up, i think.

My wife is also thinking of buying a 4Runner. That's how I found out about this.

OP:

I'm 19, and bought a brand new car march 26th of this year. My interest rate was 4.6% and I had low 700s credit rating. FWIW
