I have a Vizio M65-c3 and an xbox one. I was considering getting the new ps4 pro and probably hooking up a new PC, both of which will be 4k capable. What receiver should i consider adding to this setup? This will be mostly for console gaming and movie streaming.

Thanks

whats your budget?
5.1? 7.1?
atmos?
DT:X?

bells and whistles?

many 2015/2016 models will do some form of 4k (some all hdmi ports, some limited hdmi ports)

I don't have a budget but the last receiver i got was around $500. it had 7.1, blutooth and a few other things.

from looking at the link, is the key thing a receiver must have to do 4k just the HDMI2.0?

thanks for the replies.

the 2015 denon 3200 is on closeout for @ 599 right now
iirc its full 4k, and a beast for the price

You might already know this but the PS4 pro does not support 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc playback. Looks like it will only support 4k streaming and gaming.

I have a denon avr s920w which supports full UHD 4K

Any of the 2015 models from Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, Pioneer will be HDCP 2.2 compliant. I have a Denon x2200w and like it very much. You will have to decide what features you want. Do you want Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support, Apple Airplay or any other special apps and features, how many amps in the unit will you need(5.1, 7.1, 5.1.2, 7.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.4)?

May not matter as the Vizio M doesn't support HDR or wide color gamut. It only supports the 4k resolution.

Thanks for the earlier replies and sorry for somewhat of a necro....

I have been looking at few (what i believe are 2016) units and was wondering if any would be recommended for my previously described use case:
Denon AVR-S720W (I see the AVR-S920W recommended above. Is there much difference?)
Yamaha RX-V681
Onkyo TX-NR656

small diff between the 720 and 920 denon, but for a bit more than the 920, the 2300 is a good improvement

The 2300 does look appealing. cross checking with your earlier suggestion of the AVR-X3200w (which was last year's model), which would be better? both are at amazon for $599 right now. This year's verison, the x3300w. looks like $999.

the Denon AVR-S720W dropped to $349 on amazon over the weekend. Would this be recommended at all?

It's a good AVR. As long as it covers the bases you need then I'd consider adding it to your short list. As was said the 2200 would still be a better AVR overall.

I just bought a AVR-S720W to replace my Harman Kardon AVR 1610, I needed something that can do 4k HDR

The Denon AVR2100 is not HDCP 2.2 compliant...I know because I had one and ending getting a Denon S720W when I got my Xbox One S a few months ago...

Ooppsss: I bought my 2100 in 2015 but it is a 2014 model...
