I received my AMD T-bird 900 today from Mwave, shipped ups ground.
Opened up the retail box, and noticed the CPU was loose in its packaging. Anyways, long story short, the pins in the corners on the underside are bent inwards. I'm assuming this isnt the way its supposed to be(?)So, is it damaged? If it is, Imma return it for a 1ghz T-bird, maybe ordering it from someplace else. I'm kinda new to this, any help is appreciated:)

This is my first time building a comp, here's what I order last week:

900mhz T-bird
MSI K7T pro2-a
Fung Kai 320 w/fan
256mb crucial pc133 cas2 (128x2)
IBM deskstar 30gb oem - wish i would have gotten the retail version
Creative annihilator2 32mb retail
SBlive value oem
linksys etherfast 10/100
toshiba 48x cd-rom oem
samsung floppy oem
WinMe full oem
I'll buy the keyboard/mouse at the local bestbuy or compusa

Thanks in advance :D

yea i do not think they are supposed to be bent inwards. You could try straigtening (forgive my spelling) the pins, but just send it back, call em up first.

you don't wanna risk snapping the pins trying to fix it, just get a new one if you can wait...

I do all my "Work" ordering thru Mwave, they are a great company.
No complaints from me. I'm sure theyll swap the Cpu for another, but if you outright cancel
the order you might get some kind of restocking fee.

I got my tbird 750 from Mwave. Three pins were bent on the right corner. I had waited long enough for the things so I said WTF. I got a pair of tweazers and bent one by one...I figured I could always scream DOA. Anyway, you would be suprised at how strong those pins are. I never felt like they were gonna snap. Plugged her in and it has been humming at 935 ever since.

If you can wait, re-order.....otherwise, just wanted to let you know that it has happened to other people and they will bend back!

Good Luck,

Jimmy

well, I bent the pins straight so it would fit into the socket. fixed about 12 pins total. I decided to keep it, seems like it'll work.

12 pins? Woah. I've had great experience with Mwave and if you wanted to return it for a replacement, it would have been hassle free. :)

That's lotsa credit to you for bending all those pins, BooBerry! At least now you'll have something to tell your grandchildren when they inherit your supercomputer...
