from this topic my car was hit and had a bunch of BS from the lady. well i turned it into insurance telling them i just want the difference between what i sold it for and what i had a agreement to buy it for.

they called me Monday and wanted pictures. i emailed them in Monday afternoon and got the check today! woot!

we had to go into town to for my wife's doctor pregnant (36.5 weeks pregnant). after her appointment we went to wall mart since they will cash the check (my bank is to far away). So we go to the service desk. they look at it and ask for my id and then had me endorse the check.

they then ran it through the machine. the machine could not read the information so she handed it back saying she can not cash it. WTF you made me endorse the check and now you can't cash it?

man i was pissed off.

how it is BS is that they have you endorse the check as one of the first t hings they do. they should have that as last so if the machine can not read it you do not endorse the check.

if they can't or do not want to cash it fine. but do not have people endorse the check.

I think you need to check your thread title then too.

I looked online and the Wal-mart website said they only cash payroll checks. Many other places (grocery stores for example) often put a $200 limit on checks that they cash. So I'm not surprized if they didn't want to cash that check. Do you need the cash right away? Sucks if you do. If not, why not just wait for the bank (oh and get a bank close to your home/work so this is not a problem any more)?

The endorsement isn't that bad, just keep it in sight so you don't lose the check. For some added (but occasionally ignored and not legally binding) protection, just write "for deposit only" on the back of the check. And then deposit in your bank account.

yeah i know i spelled it wrong. just they say i spelled it wrong and say how its spelled (when they are wrong also) is annoying.

yeah i thought they only did payroll checks. but i did get my state refund check cashed there one year.

but either way it was not the excuse they gave. I wouldnt have been upset if they didnt tell me to endorse it before they ran it.

it was not a emergancy for the cash. just getting my wife some nursing bra's and clothes for my daughter (school starts in a few weeks! woot!) and did not want to put on my CC (hate CC's to bad you have to h ave one).

since my bank is the credit union (at my wife's work wich we were not not near) i couldnt run it in. but my dad gave me cash for it and he will deposit the check heh.

Makes sense, Waggy. There are valid reasons to avoid a CC. But they really truely are the best option if your family can handle them responsibly. It just makes all problems like this one go away.

Other solutions: (1) Keep one blank check folded up in your wallet. That way you don't have to carry a bulky checkbook, but you always can write a check in this situation. (2) Keep a free checking account at a nationwide bank with just a small balance. Then you can cash checks like this at any time (well $100+ what you have in the bank, the rest must be deposited). My father has worked in a bank all his life and he uses 3 different banks just for this purpose. It isn't an insult to your wife's credit union to want convenience of a national banks as well. (3) Tell that meddling Dullard to solve his own problems instead of coming to ATOT to solve everyone else's problems.

As long as you pay off your CC every month, it's actually saving me time and money (cash back). I love CC's!
