Even B0's overclock high.Just like C1's you have to be lucky.I seen guys with B0's up around 3.3-3.4GHz.yes,C1 is probably a little better in taking chances.I don't know what to tell you.Maybe try it and if it sucks RMA it or whatever.

I have an SL6EU BOX 11/12/2002 Philippines 2.4B B0.
I did not intend to overclock so, I was not unhappy.

Well, I tried it just for fun and, it booted up at 2.8Mhz.
With that, I did a bunch of diagnostic and memory test
system was stable and has been for a month now.

I have the voltage set at 1.5v. My board is a Gigabyte 8INXP with
1Gig of 333Mhz Samsung DDR.
Using the Stock heat sink, four fans blowing into case; two ducted too
memory and CPU fan.
Running CPUburn burnp6.exe ambient temp is 24C;
CPU temp maxes at 59C 1.5v, 60C 1525.
YMMV

FWIW I've been running United Devices grid computing for two weeks solid.
15 Days sofar no problem. Temp stays at 54C idle is about

If you wanted a guarantee, you should have paid the extra. ;)

Could anyone tell me how to check the type of P4 I have? Its a 2.8GHz. How can I tell what "stepping" it is without removing it from my system?
Thanks. Windows 2000 reports my CPU as: x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 7 Genuine Intel~2800Mhz.. Ok I know the stepping but what is this B0,C1 stuff?

Check the vcore in Windows and you can move up to 1.70v max.

Set everything on your system to relaxed settings except for the fsb and vcore.
Increase the fsb until you get the BSOD or no boot.
Increase the vcore one notch until you get boot into windows.

Keep doing this until you find out the max for the cpu.
Then start adjusting the memory timing, etc.

You will eventually find the sweeeeeeeeet spot for your system.

That's it - Piece of cake ;) :D

What you do to cause that BSOD?

Left computer running and when came back from shoveling the snow there it was.

The RAM might also keep it from going higher, Crucial DDR 2100

Thanks Jhites, I checked my BIOS and it read 1.525 volts VCORE. So I have a C1 then? Is this a good thing?

Ordered my P4 2.4B from newegg on 2-8-02. IM on the east coast and I got c1. Have it at 2.9 on stock cooling, and plan on going more when I get some new cooling.

Does not go higher than 2.6

Programs give errors or slow to load @ 2.7

Win2000K gets stuck at loading screen @ 2.8

Did you bump up your voltage core?.Give it 1.7V and go from there.Your in tough with your ram but maybe the CPU doesn't have anymore legs. You can always sell it on ebay or here in the for sale forum and try your luck again with another CPU.Unfortunatley thats what a lot of people do.They go through 10 until they find a good one. :)

Are you that rich? You will destroy every cpu until you get a C1? :D
