Going to Massachusetts in the next couple of weeks and my wife says she must eat at a lobster buffet. I figure it's the least I can do since it's also her birthday on the 17th, so can anyone can recommend a good place that's on the cheaper side of $25 since my fs thread is doing so good?

Some place by the ocean would be great too! Maybe somewhere near new bedford or fall river as we'll be close to there?

Thanks in advance.

I've lived in MA and was actually a sternman on a lobster boat for a number of years and have never heard of a lobster buffet. That's not to say they don't exist, but I don't know how popular it is. Knowing places get away with charging $20 for two lobsters, I can only imagine how much an all-you-can-eat buffet would cost.

Where will you be staying? We might be able to at least recommend a place to get some good lobster. :)

I would post over in chowhound.com b/c I also have never heard of a lobster buffet. I believe some of the crappy buffet places may offer lobster on particular nights.

Also...you are coming at the wrong time...

well, i guess the AT crowd is either not that into lobster or it must not exist. Guess I'm going to have to give the wife the disappointing news no lobster buffet.

There's no lobster buffets. Sorry dude. Lived in MA for 18 years. You might find a seafood buffet, but their stuff is usually crap. Just go out and spend the money and get 2 nice lobsters at some local place in one of the fishing towns. Best way to get seafood. BTW, you know it's winter, right? Looking at market price for all lobster.

Closest place I know of would be the Nordic Lodge in Rhode Island
but there aren't open this time of the year and its upto 80 per person now :(

I have heard there is a similar place down near the casino's in CT but haven't been there

I don't eat seafood but can attest to it being crowded as hell on weekend nights.
