I can not for the life of me find a good retail store that sells IPS monitors. They are always tn panels in stores like best buy or target etc. is there a good store in the southern California area i can demo some high quality monitors? I wish Oled or full array led was here already. I have been holding off because so many monitors look like junk.

apple 27" monitor at the apple store.

edit: iirc most (all?) apple desktop monitors are IPS, and also all iMacs use IPS.

edit2: the smaller imac may use an eIPS screen

Even if you were to find a high-quality monitor in a store:

1. It wouldn't be calibrated.
2. The lighting would be horrendous.

Read reviews at prad.de and tftcentral. Personally, I prefer A-MVA panels for their higher real contrast.

Try Fry's. There are a number of them in SoCal. They sell IPS panels. If you find one close call them first and see if they have IPS monitors on display.

I don't think he wants to look at an overpriced panel. :p

dell 27s are the same panel, as are catleaps, but the apple store has many more locations so he can see what the panels look like from at least a general perspective.
