Reccomend me some good headphones

Yea, you may need an amp to get the best sound. You can listen at a decent level without others hearing it, but the second you get into anything I'd consider 'good music listening range' others will hear it.

The benefit is that most of the high end Sennheiser headphones can sit on your head for ~10 hours without any bad affects. Your head won't hurt and your ears won't be annoyed.

I love my HD600s for sitting anywhere indoors.

no mention of the grado 80's?

Probably due to the fact that they are very uncomfortable to wear for periods of time. They sound decent imo though, i just dont like having my ears go numb.

wth, the headphone.com review/rating of the px200's totally changed, it use to have 4 or 4.5, now it's a 3. but it's still recommended in the buying guide. heh.

The best ones I have are the Senns PX200. They only cost $40 at ecost and they are small but they sound great (well most of the time). The only problem with them is that if there are highs and lows simultaneously and the volume is pretty loud, the highs will dominate the sound. Other then that, they sound absolutely great for games.

do they sit around the ear or on the ear? if on the ear i dont want them, i cant handle it.

from what i've seen grados sit on the ear. the 590's sit outside the ear.. circumaural or whatever.. forget the exact term. most comfy are those that dont psuh on ear at all. otherwise its luck of genetics, some people can stand ear pressure, others cannot. i can only wear my 497's for maybe 2 hours b4 i get tired. i'll get 590's eventually.

you'd only want an amp for the 580's or 600's. they use 300 ohm drivers (compare to like 90 ohms for other big headphone drivers). the 590's use more normal drivers, and you don't need an amp for them.

as i said, i have the 580's. plugged into a sony discman, i have to turn it up as high as i can get it without distortion to reach a solid listening level (like 9 or so out of 10). i can't make it loud no matter what. my laptop can drive them better, capable of getting loud before reaching distortion (but the headphone output sucks regardless). my hifi receiver is the only thing that can really drive them cleanly and easily. i haven't bought an amp because the above is acceptable enough to me that it isn't worth another $100 (at least while i'm poor).

i got the 555s and they are awesome and dont require an amp, the amped headphone jack on my laptop works fine.
