I'm looking for some good FPS's. I like Tribes 1, used to play it religiously years ago. I played Quake III the other day and loved it. I've played UT 2k4 before, good game.

Basically, nothing too complicated and just fun.

Any reccomendations?

The Painkiller demo is fun, it's on my to-buy list once the bundle-with-expansion gets a little cheaper.

If you haven't player Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force it was fun and fairly easy, and I'm not even a fan of the TV show.

Joint Operations is my favorite online multiplayer FPS...never became really popular though. Riddick is a good single player game - I liked it more than Doom 3 or Half Life 2.

If you want a really enjoyable and slightly different FPS experience, Star Wars: Republic Commando is excellent.

Dont let the Star Wars tag deter you from it. Its actually a good Star Wars game (yes I know, that suprised me too).

The single player campaign is pretty short. Im not great with single player FPSes usually but I beat this on hard within a week. Great graphics, engine is decent, action at times is majorly hectic. You can imagine charging at a group of Super Battle Droids with your Anti-Armor attachment on your DC-17 and taking down a couple before they incapacitate you, then ordering a commando to revive you and carry on fighting.

Multiplayer is pretty poor. Most kills seem to be via grenade.

Well worth the £16 I paid for it.

Oldies but goodies:

Soldier of Fortune 1/2 (still good 4 years on!)
Jedi Knight/Outcast/Academy (FPS with light sabers)
Serious Sam (most mindless FPS ever)

More cerebral FPSs:

Thief 1/2/3 (FP Sneaker)
Deus Ex (FP RPG)
System Shock 2 (even better FP RPG)

I know what you mean, Tribes 1 really sets a high bar for online fun, and even though I've played both sequels, I'd still be playing Tribes 1 if it wasn't so riddled with cheats and still had a handful of good servers.

Having said that. Hmm, Far Cry is one you should play I think, and Pariah just came out. Check out the multiplayer demo!

well, it's a little more complicated (i guess) than UT2k4, but I find it pretty fun... its called
Red Orchestra. It's the Total Conversion for UT2K4 that won the Make Something Unreal contest...

Red Orchestra: Combined Arms is a game of infantry, mobile and armoured warfare, based on the Eastern Front in World War II.

It's nice to get away from the Western Front, which has been used over and over...

Tribes 1 was a great game... Ever play the WarZonE, squadbase, or DeltaForce mods?

Q3 & UT2k4 = best FPS of their respective generations.
