I'm not surprised that Walker won, but I AM surprised that it was a complete beatdown. I was thinking it would be a close call, but instead Walker trashed Barret.

I rarely tune to MSNBC, but it was absolutely wonderful to watch Schultz throw a hissy fit and watch Mad Cow almost in tears as they tried to deny the obvious. Complete and total beatdown. Then of course came the whining and crying about money from outside the state and blah blah blah. Great stuff!

7% -- right in the range I predicted last night when all the chest-thumpers were saying he'd win by 15 points -- is not a "complete beatdown". If the Dems had run a better candidate and campaign, and there weren't so many people protesting the recall process itself, Walker could easily have lost.

I watched Walker's victory speech, it was very conciliatory, ready to move on for all of WI. Then I watched the dimlib idiot Mahlon Mitchell rant on about evil divisive politics and so forth... the irony was lost on him and the idiot MSNBC folks.

Despite the complete beatdown, I think Obama will carry the state with ease in November, the media will make sure of that.

And if I had tires, I might have been a car 😀 The what if's are not relevant. Despite all the supposed rage and anger that the media would have you believe was present in WI towards Walker because of his work to balance the budget, the voters showed once again that the media is full of crap.

Okay, where are all the posters that predicted Walker was as good as gone. The people have spoken - they agree with Walker.

Planning the recall petition😕

Do-overs seems to be their mantra

And if I had tires, I might have been a car.

And if you were a car, you'd probably make more sense.

I'm not disputing that Walker won this election. I'm disputing your unsupported bragging about this being a "complete beatdown". It simply wasn't -- he won by about what the polls predicted, a margin similar to that by which Obama beat McCain in 2008.

^^

I guess we need to go through our "Bush" years in Wisconsin. I hope I live long enough to see the damage rectified.

Riiiiight. It's democracy when your side wins; when the other side wins, then everyone breaks out the whining and conspiracy theories.

You partisan hacks are amusing. The last two pages of this thread are like listening to middle schoolers on a playground -- and not the honors students.

and the first 2K posts were the same.

Whining about how bad Walker was and how he was going to get tarred and feathered on the way out of town.

People will speak and not stand for his union busting.

Screwing the public treasury is a good thing.

Debt does not matter when the results go into one's pocket.

The posts by Ausm & Co were all about that.

Get off on kicking a man when he is down?...Typical Repuglicant.....

The best news for the state from this recall election isn't really that Walker won, but that divided government has returned. One of the Republican senators was recalled. It's not official yet, as the margin is very small (700-some votes).. but if it stands, it's good news.

With Democrats in the majority in the senate it should curb Walker and the GOP's attempts to push through proposals on social issues.

All of the Republicans won.

You are wrong.

It's more than just Wisconsin.

The U.S. is history as it was known.

Republicans have successfully destroyed it.

Wrong

The Republicans have shown that the public is not blind to the BS spouted by the Democrats. the key to the public trough has been taken away here.

Hopefully; that will show other states that is can happen and successfully; just takes some determination

It's actually mostly a symbolic victory. A huge chunk of WI state senators are up for re-election in November anyway, and it's not clear there will really be any legislative session before that.

With or without the media, Wisconsin is far more purple than you would like to believe.

Sure sign of an unthinking hack, on either side: victories always represent "the people speaking" or "a mandate", and losses are always because of "fraud" or "the media" or other typical excuses.

California needs this as well but the bigger problem there facing are illegal immigrants

One step at a time.

Convince the public that the feared backbone of the unions can be broken, allowing the brakes to be put on to run away spending.

Now once the public knows the brakes will work, then go after those that believe in breaking the law.

the key to the public trough has been taken away here.

That doesn't happen unless there's divided government. Without divided government, the public trough is open to use by either the Democratic or Republican keys. With divided government, they're both trying to put their key in and constantly being blocked by the other.

If that's true, that's a good thing. I, for one, would prefer fewer acts of government; fewer opportunities to mess things up more than they already are.

Yes, lots of senators are up for reelection in November, but there's no reason to conclude it is going to go back in the Republicans' favor.

I just listed them.
Parents with children want packed class rooms? Really?
Women want probes up their yahoo to satisfy some religious agenda? Really?
Oh well... Like Barney Frank once said, "you can't argue with a dinning room table".

Listing the Democratic fear mongering statements does not make it correct.

Teachers can contribute more to their pension. and health care
The administration can have more control over the schools - move teachers around.
Allow incompetent teachers to be replaced by teachers that want to teach.

Clean up the waste in the system first; then show the need for additional funding.

The public has spoken - we want value for the taxes that are paid - not make work to justify bodies

Just the facts.

Where I one to act like a Democrat; I would have compiled a list of all of the posts of your and others that were bragging about dope slapping Walker, how the recall will straighten out the mess, the public believes in unions, etc.

2K posts here and close to a third were you in the bragging mode, cock of the roost strutting around.

Those that leach from society will eventually get kicked away because those leaches are not contributing their fare share and they refuse to admit it.

All that happened is you put the state through 15 months of turmoils; wasted countless $$ to try to maintain the status quota instead of choosing to move forward.

More energy in trying to destroy than to build.
