The boots were ripped so I wanted to replace them, anyhow I cleaned and reinstalled everything but the joint does not plunge or articulate easily at all compared to the other ones(untouched).

I made sure the orientation of the center splined piece is correct and the Bearing Race looked symmetrical so I did not try flipping that. Othwesire not sure whats going on, so before I do the other three I want to ensure what I am doing is correct.

when putting it back together did it take a lot of force to get the cage in? or did it just slide in?

It should just click together with little effort when done properly.

Heres and example of an easy way to do it.

EDIT: Also, I would compare it to your other joints to see if the inner race needs to be orientated a certain direction.

If you didn't put the balls back in the race they came out of and the cage is not oriented as it was originally, I wouldn't be surprised if it's stiff operating it by hand(new ones are too, very). Technically it should go back together with everything where it was originally.
In practice you'll probly be OK and it'll loosen up as it wears its new orientation.

Or it'll wear out quickly since it has to wear beyond normal to achieve normal operating clearances.
