hey guys,
my computer keeps on restarting randomly..that is after the OS booting by 2 seconds or sometimes 10 seconds.. or even while it is loading the os.

now, i did remove cd drive... hoping it could be it..because it was the last thing I installed, but that was not it... and it stopped rebooting...
I installed another cd drive...(new one) and same problem... so i figured it could be from the power supply unit...

let me know what you think...
thanks

specs: shuttle: 2.4 P4 512 mb ram.

Welcome to the Forums :) Do you have any good-quality full-sized ATX power supplies that you could test it with, as a fact-finding step?

Rebooting can also be a sign of a security problem. Has it been working normally in the past? What do you have for these:

Windows version (2000, XP)
Service Pack for Windows
Antivirus software, if any
Firewall software, if any
Router, or no router?

it works fine when cd drive not connected.... is it because the PCU cannot take more watts anymore? is it going bad?

That does sound like a possibility. You could test that theory by taking a different CD drive and swapping it into there with the Shuttle PSU, or by hooking up a different PSU for a test session.

If you need a new PSU, newegg.com carries at least some Shuttle SFF power supplies, or you might be able to get one from Shuttle directly.
