Jim, I went through CAMILLE in a shingle shack with a tin roof. Crazy, huh?

Well, I'm much older and a little wiser. I'm departing right after the markets close for Monroe.

The Enterprise Q is running on a 30KW generator and should be all right if the house isn't just blown away.

Stay agile and remember to DUCK. :p :D

Good luck to everyone in the panhandle. God bless.

Good luck! We are getting pounded right now and it will last into tomorrow. The rain is incredible.

My parents were OK, but a family of 5 were killed. They only lived 10 miles from them.

Their comuters are down and have been since late last night as a precaution. Some of my boxes up stairs are down as we had a brief outage and I have some bad UPS batteries.

there are so many homes without power that I doubt they have any (power)

You guys are still in our prayers

the last report I say was:

About 1.5 million homes and businesses did not have power Saturday in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Authorities have urged evacuees not to return home until they receive an all-clear decree. Analysts have given preliminary damage estimates ranging from $2 billion to $10 billion.

From Mobile, AL to Destin, FL there is very, very serious damage.

I find it very disconcerting that Jim has not checked in to let us know how he is. :(

Many of the beach condos/hotels were heavily damaged. I got a report last night that some of the largest/tallest condos have had their foundations undermined and will have to be demolished.

Multiple sections of the I-10 bridge over the back end of Pensacola Bay is down and they are not even giving estimates on when it can be repaired. There was a picture (I think of this bridge) where the tractor portion of an 18-wheeler including the driver had fallen into the mud and water ... only the trailer hung at the edge.

Let's all hope and pray that Freewolf and his friends and family are all right.

Waiting to hear from you Jim ...............

That picture was a solemn reminder of the loss of life that is occuring.

At times like these folks band together, There is a lot of damage. Searching for survivors, Clearing roads etc... will take the combined efforts of all. It Could be a while before they have power restored.

Jim said (before he left) :

Thanks Mike
Winds starting to pick up some and the power starting to flicker, other part of Pensacola are without water and power already so I guess we are lucky. Looks like the eye going to come in around 60 or 65 miles to the west of us so it might get to be fun for a while and looks like the hotel will take a petty good shot since it's in Orange Beach on the coast about 30 or 40 miles from Moble bay
see you
Jim

that puts him almost directly into the path of Ivan.

Jim is in Pensacola Florida.
